Here are some things to consider as you move to a new office.
Business Practices Learn From The Pandemic
While we may have moved back to the office, many companies learned how to let employees work remotely during the pandemic. These lessons can be applied during an office move. Rather than have employees try to work as the office is being dismantled, schedule WFH for everyone who can during the move time. Scheduling this work from home ahead of time will let employees set up remote workstations and keep them from being interrupted by the move.
Clear out the old
Look around the office and consider what is needed at the new place vs. what needs to be replaced vs. what you can do without. Moving an office location is a good time to rethink the space you use and what is in it. Do you still need all the equipment? Is some equipment old enough to need replacing (or close to it)? Don’t pay the expense of moving more than is needed. Sell or donate equipment and furniture that you don’t need before the move.
The right employee seating
For many companies, the layout of office seating is more a function of inertia than actual planning. Take the opportunity presented by a move to rethink the organizational layout. Don’t simply move the same seating arrangement from the old to the new. Make the new seating a deliberate choice.
Moving presents issues no matter how well planned it might be. So, take advantage of the opportunity to clear out unneeded items and outdated ideas.
